How long is it reasonable to wait before having sex?

Postby Juliet the Moderator 5 months ago

It used to be that people were engaged for an entire year before getting married, and they had to get married before having sex.

We don't live in the 1800s anymore, and I'm glad times have changed.

But here's a question worth posing. How long is it reasonable to wait before heading to the sack? Do you abide by the 5 date rule? A few weeks? A month? Do you still believe you should wait until marriage?

It's different for different people, but what is the MAXIMUM amount of time you'd give a person before moving on to someone else? Would you be willing to wait a month? Half a year?

i depends on the two individuals in my opinion, if a guy likes you enough the sex will not be top of his list, of course he will want to move things forward and thats because he is attracted to you and thats normal, in fact you might be insulted if he wasnt eager lol

However, if you're not feeling it you should wait, and if he is worth you're time and really likes you for the RIGHT reasons he wont push it!!

Just my opinion tho lol

if a girl gives it up quick, you can pursue her for who she is and the sex isnt a reason

Well, i don't think there should be any time table related to sex, If you are both honestly attracted to each other or have enough lust, then things move quickly..Although if you care for somebody deeply, notice i did not say love!! From experience i think you just take your time be patient, you don't want to make the other uncomfortable/add unnecessary pressure to the relationship...And just remember sex can be great, it's just not worth dieing over!!!!

THX just my take:)

Um, I honestly would want to take time to get to know my boyfriend for awhile first...like the first six months or something. Sex is not everything, it can bring a couple closer in a relationship romantically and what not but...it's not the utmost importance. I wanted to wait for marriage, but temptation got the best of me. Now, I want to know my boyfriend more and more, just saying if I ever have a bf lol. Also yeah if that feeling or you know wanting to comes up, then hey its up to them. Its a couple's decision and probably would want to sit down and talk about sex, if it ever comes up or whatever.

I myself like to wait a week or 2 but its very hard when you have this hot bird with a hot bod all over you if you say no what she going to think your not intrested in her or if you tell her to slow down shes might go some place else so i have come to live in the fast lane but living like this is not all bad i have just come out of a 3year loving realationship but i have to say sex on the first date is a straight no no for me id wait 3 days tops i can lol

For me, being physically intimate with someone means something to me. I don't just go out looking for sex to have sex. Even if I date someone and I don't give portion of me away till I know that this is someone special.

I guess I am old fashion in that way.

Then there is the thought of STD's and Aids. If I don't know that person very well, then how would I know what their past sex life was like? Not a chance I'm willing to take.

I think this is a very individual answer. For me, as I have posted before, there is no need to wait. I am fine having sex on the first date, and as a matter of fact, there are many guys that is all I want from them. I also have waited....as I read other posts, hell no not long, maybe a week or 2, 5 dates tops, because if there is no chemistry for me in the bedroom, there in no need to keep dating. I would end things early, learn from it and leave it in the past. And for all those posters who think...oh I would never do that, that's not the way I am...blah, blah. Try it - may be the best sex and best relationship you will ever have!! 8-)
